What is a "Call for paper"?

I am trying to figure what is a "Call for paper".  How should I be writing this paper; who are the audiences, purpose of call for paper...

From Wikipedia: call for papers (CFP) is a method used in academic and other contexts for collecting book or journal articles or conference presentations. A CFP usually is sent to interested parties, describing the broad theme, the occasion for the CFP, formalities such as what kind of abstract (summary) has to be submitted to whom and a deadline.

A CFP is usually distributed using a mailing list or on specialized online services. Papers are usually submitted using an online abstract or paper management service.

I will need to think about this.

Finally, Hello World running on iPhone

Okay, after having spent 3 days digesting that 52 pages document on how to get an application onto the iPhone, I finally got it working.  There are numerous certificates to sign and many steps to get yourself licensed to develop applications for your own iPhone.  I have to install the iPhone SDK twice and download developer firmware software onto the iPhone. My timing was really bad, apparently iPhone software got updated a few days before the iPhone SDK got release.  So, when I use the older iPhone SDK to develop software for the new iPhone firmware, it did allow me to download my software.  I got notified of the new iPhone SDK today and I installed the SDK and everything just started working.  I am a happy camper for a little while.  A small step in developing iPhone software.

Received Apple Activation Code

I received my Apple Activation Code within 24 hours of purchasing the iPhone Standard Developer license. Now when I login to iPhone Dev Center, I have an extra link on the webpage to Program Portal. One of the document there is called Program Portal User Guide. I will spend this evening digesting this 52 pages document.

IPhone Development is Pricey

It is expensive to develop for the iPhone. You must have a Mac machine. Next, you must have the right version of Mac OS. You need at least Leopard (10.5.4). I needed to upgrade mine from Tiger to Leopard and that cost $125.68 with student discount.
You can download the iPhone SDK and start development on the provided iPhone Simulator but to download software to your iPhone you need to get at least the Standard developer license and that cost $107.17 with tax. I have just paid Apple for the developer license and I will need to wait to get approval.
I am please to report that I have got the legendary "Hello World" application running on the simulator. So far, the progress is going as planned.

Draft Idea

Recently there has been a lot interest and discussion in the industry for iPhone development. I would like to focus on Mac and iPhone development. The risk I am facing here is they are both new areas to me. If I am successful, the reward for me is I would have learned to develop in the Mac environment for the iPhone.
